Her therapeutic style is interactive, and she is responsive to and engaged with her clients, offering tools and guidance when needed.

About

Anna Dematatis, PhD is a licensed Psychologist and member of the American Psychological Association and the Michigan Psychological Association. She offers mental health care for adolescents and adults.

Short Term Care

Dr. Dematatis has an extensive background in short-term therapy, through which she helps people identify a focus of therapy and work toward achieving their goals in a timely manner.

Dr. Dematatis is also experienced in providing longer term therapy when a deeper examination of the factors contributing to one's situation makes more sense and when more time is needed to create and sustain improvements in health and well-being.

Long Term Care

Dr. Dematatis is trained in and practices a number of different therapeutic approaches and techniques, including:

  • cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT)

  • psychodynamic therapy

  • solution-focused therapy

  • mindfulness-based therapies

First Sessions

In the initial therapy sessions, Dr. Dematatis will determine with you what therapeutic focus and approach will be most beneficial given your specific issues and goals for therapy.

Ongoing Therapy

As therapy progresses, Dr. Dematatis will collaborate with you to work on those issues most important to you and talk with you about your therapy experience to ensure that you are getting what you want out of therapy.

Educational & Clinical Background

Dr. Dematatis received her MA and PhD in Counseling Psychology from the University of Texas at Austin and her BA in Psychology and Computer Applications from the University of Notre Dame. She completed an APA-approved pre-doctoral internship specializing in health psychology at the South Texas Veterans Health Care System in San Antonio, TX.  She then went on to complete a post-doctoral fellowship in health psychology in the same facility.

Prior to entering private practice in 2012, She was a staff psychologist at the John D. Dingell VA Medical Center in Detroit, where she was the director of the primary care/mental health integration program.
